Courtney E. Takahashi, MD, MCR, FAAN

Dr. Courtney Takahashi is a highly accomplished neurointensivist and director with extensive experience in patient flow and inpatient neurology. She is currently based at Boston Medical Center in Boston, MA. Dr. Takahashi holds an MD degree from the University of Hawaii, John A. Burns School of Medicine, and a Masters in Clinical Research from Oregon Health & Science University. She is also pursuing an MBA in Healthcare Management from Boston University. Dr. Takahashi has a notable background in residency and fellowship training. She completed her residency in Neurology at Oregon Health & Science University and went on to complete a fellowship in Neurocritical Care at the same institution. She is board certified in Neurology Critical Care and holds a Subspecialty Certification (#NCC1403-15) in this field from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN).

In addition to her clinical expertise, Dr. Takahashi has taken on significant leadership roles in hospital administration. She currently serves as the Director of Patient Flow at Boston Medical Center, where she has implemented integrated strategies for managing patient flow across multiple departments, including the Emergency Department, Peri-op, transfer center, ICU, Non-ICU, and Peds. She has also served as the Inpatient Medical Director for the Department of Neurology, overseeing health care proxy and guardianship, readmission teams, and quality improvement initiatives. As the Neurocritical Care Fellowship Director, Dr. Takahashi has been instrumental in achieving ACGME and NMS accreditation for the program, and has played a key role in its development.

Dr. Takahashi has received numerous honors for her clinical and academic achievements, including being recognized as one of the Top Doctors in Boston, MA. She has also served in various leadership roles in professional organizations, including the American Academy of Neurology and the Neurocritical Care Society. Dr. Takahashi has authored original, peer-reviewed research articles in reputable journals and is actively involved in advancing the field of neurology through her contributions to guidelines, conferences, and committees.
