David Buechner, MD

David Buechner, MD is a physician who specializes in multiple areas of radiology, including neurointerventional radiology, neuroradiology, peripheral vascular interventional radiology, interventional spine/pain management, and diagnostic radiology. He is currently affiliated with several professional organizations, including Paragon Medical Group, Paragon Imaging, Orthobiologics Network, Spectrum Pain Management group, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and Indiana University College of Medicine.

In addition to his expertise in radiology, Dr. David Buechner is actively involved in research, with a special focus on regenerative medicine and traumatic brain injury (TBI). His research efforts center on leveraging orthobiologics, which are biological substances that have the potential to promote healing and tissue regeneration, to advance the understanding and treatment of TBI. He aims to develop innovative treatment strategies that can improve outcomes for individuals affected by TBI, by harnessing the regenerative potential of orthobiologics. His dedication to research underscores his commitment to advancing medical knowledge and improving patient care. Through his research, Dr. Buechner strives to contribute to the development of novel therapeutic approaches that may have a significant impact on the lives of TBI patients, and ultimately improve their prognosis and quality of life.

Dr. Buechner completed his fellowship in Neuroradiology /Neuroendovascular Radiology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, AR in 1998. He also completed his residency in Radiology at Methodist Hospital Memphis in Memphis, TN in 1996, where he served as Chief Radiology Resident in 1995-1996. He completed his internship in Transitional Medicine at Methodist Hospital Memphis in 1992. He obtained his Medical Doctor (MD) degree from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in Memphis, TN in 1991, and his Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Biology from Christian Brothers University in Memphis, TN in 1987.

Dr. Buechner is board certified by the American Board of Radiology, with a CAQ Subspecialty in Neuroradiology. He is also certified in ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) and NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale).

Dr. Buechner has been recognized for his professional achievements, including being voted as one of the “Best Doctors” in America for Neurointerventional in 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013, and being voted as one of the “Top Doctors” in Memphis, TN and surrounding regions from 2009 to 2021. He has also been recognized by Memphis Magazine as one of the “Best Doctors” in Neuroradiology/Neurointerventional Radiology from 2009 to 2021.
